Technical Standards and Safety Authority
From industry experts to everyday consumers, one seamless digital experience

Scope
The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is a not-for-profit organization that oversees technical safety regulations in Ontario. To better serve regulated industries and the public, TSSA needed a more accessible, brand-aligned digital presence.
Challenge
TSSA’s existing website frustrated regular users and failed to meet consumer needs. Outdated content structures, inconsistent branding across legacy sites, and a wide range of user types made navigation and information access difficult.
Process
Q30 began with extensive user research, engaging internal teams, call centre staff, and regulated individuals to identify key pain points and content challenges. We reviewed the existing site to assess what worked and what didn’t, and facilitated Discovery workshops to align stakeholders and prioritize opportunities. Insights revealed a complex ecosystem of users with distinct needs and expectations.
Outcome
We designed targeted Hubs for key audiences—industry dashboards, consumer safety sections, and a legislation and enforcement area—to improve usability and access. We also helped launch two public-facing sites: cosafety.ca for carbon monoxide safety and safetyinfo.ca for general consumer resources.

Let’s make something better together.
